Work Place

In an increasingly knowledge based economy, looking after ‘human capital’ has never been more important. Yet a large percentage of the human workforce are suffering.  Mental health issues are now the leading cause of sick leave in the UK.

Due to the technological evolution, research has found that an individual is only able to concentrate on a task for an average of 11 minutes before being distracted by technology.  Mindfulness-based programmes have been proven to help ‘retrain the brain’ to allow for longer periods of attention and concentration. They have also been proven to train people to identify the early signs of stress and overwhelm. Identifying these early signs can prevent stress from becoming a more significant mental health issue.

Our mindfulness-based programmes for the work place provide an opportunity to invest in your work force and their wellbeing by exploring communication, attention, stress reduction, and emotional regulation. The courses have been particularly effective in supporting public sector workers in demanding roles such as healthcare, emergency services, social care and the military.

Our Mindful Leadership Programme has mindfulness at the core as we offer opportunities for leaders and managers to explore and reflect upon their leadership style.  Read more about mindfulness in the work place and the research that has taken place at the University of Oxford.

6-Week ‘Finding Peace in a Frantic World’ Programme

The 6-Week ‘Finding Peace in a Frantic World’ Course is a great introduction to mindfulness within a workplace setting. The course consists of six, 1.5-hour sessions and includes 20 minutes of home practice per day between sessions. Through guided meditations, group dialogue, individually tailored instructions and home assignments, you will learn the essential principles of mindfulness and techniques to build your personal home practice and access the wide-ranging benefits well beyond the course.

Core Teaching and Learning Intentions:

  • A variety of formal and informal mindfulness meditation practices, which involve using the breath and body as a focus for being aware of our experience in the present moment
  • Understanding the physiology of stress and how to self-regulate our moods so that we are better able to pause in challenging situations and manage our responses more effectively
  • Recognising the patterns of worrying and self-criticism that often generate more stress; and how we can relate to ourselves with a more accepting and kind stance
  • Learning to have more mindful communication, connections and relationships
  • Developing practical self-care tools to help us thrive, perform at our best and build resilience

Resources Provided:

  • A detailed course workbook, which will cover the theory of each session and provide details of the home practice
  • Downloadable guided meditations for the home practice
